AKS now supports Windows Gen 2 VMs
Azure Generation 2 (Gen2) virtual machines (VMs) are now available for Windows on AKS, providing support for key features not present in generation 1 (Gen1) VMs. These features include increased memory capacity, Intel Software Guard Extensions (Intel SGX), and virtualized persistent memory (vPMEM). Unlike Gen1 VMs, Gen2 VMs utilize a UEFI-based boot architecture.
It is important to note that only specific SKUs and sizes support Gen2 VMs, so checking the list of supported sizes is essential to determine if your SKU is compatible.
