Announcing Public Preview of New-Gen AMD VMs: Dasv6/Easv6/Fasv6

Azure recently introduced the latest AMD-based VMs in public preview, featuring the 4th Generation AMD EPYC™ 9004 (Genoa) CPU for the D, E, and F family VMs. These new VMs offer enhanced performance and reliability compared to the previous AMD v5 VMs utilizing the 3rd Generation AMD EPYC™ (Milan) CPU.

The Genoa-based VMs are available in various series with different memory to core ratios within the three VM families, including the general purpose Dasv6 and Dalsv6 series, the memory optimized Easv6 series, and the compute optimized Fasv6, Falsv6, and Famsv6 series. The Dav6 VM series offer a balanced memory to core ratio, while the Dalsv6 series provide a cost-effective solution for applications with lower memory requirements.

The Easv6 VM series is designed for applications needing higher memory to core ratios. Additionally, the Fasv6, Falsv6, and Famsv6 series boast increased CPU performance and are differentiated by their core to memory ratio.

These new VMs also leverage Azure Boost technology and feature NVMe interface for local and remote disks, resulting in up to 80% improved remote storage performance, 400% faster local storage speeds, and 20% enhanced networking bandwidth over previous AMD-based VM generations. With a wide range of VM options catering to various memory sizes and budgets, these new VMs offer customers a comprehensive selection of AMD VMs on Azure, available for preview in the East US 2 region.
