Azure Automation Update Management and Log Analytics agent to be retired on 31 Aug 2024
On August 31, 2024, the update management feature of Azure Automation and the Log Analytics agent it uses will be retired. Users will need to start using Azure Update Manager to assess and patch virtual machines by that date. Azure Update Manager is free for managing Azure Virtual Machines and Azure Stack HCI VMs, but there is a cost of $5 per server per month for Azure Arc-enabled servers. Azure Update Manager offers improvements such as easy onboarding, granular access control, and flexible auto-patching. To avoid disruptions in service, users are required to migrate to Azure Update Manager by August 31, 2024. Help and support can be obtained through Microsoft Q&A or by creating a support request.
