Enhancing Pulumi Integration for Azure Deployment Environments

Azure Deployment Environments has enhanced its offerings to provide a seamless experience for customers, making it easier to utilize popular Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) frameworks. The extensibility model allows for efficient and customizable deployments tailored to organizational needs. Development teams gain more control over environment templates, while platform engineers have increased flexibility to build templates using their preferred IaC formats.

Key updates include:

  1. Support for Pulumi: The new extensibility model now includes Pulumi, in addition to ARM, Bicep, and Terraform. Users can deploy using Pulumi by either building their own container image based on published guidance or by using a provided sample container image. This feature is currently in preview.
  2. Project-based catalogs: Platform engineers can now offer project-specific templates or enable development teams to customize templates themselves. This feature is in preview.
  3. Quick-start template: A single-click deployment option is now generally available, allowing platform engineers to quickly deploy and configure Azure Deployment Environments.
